A young Devonshire farm boy, Albert, forges an unbreakable bond with his horse, Joey, who is sold to the cavalry and sent to the battlefields of World War I. The horse begins a remarkable and perilous journey across the European continent, passing through the lives of soldiers and civilians on both sides of the conflict.
